Greetings and thank you for visiting my website. I am Dr. Scott Taylor, formally educated as a veterinarian with advanced training in immunology. For the past several years, the objective of my work has been focused on the cause of inflammation with the intent that it would lead to therapies most effective for treating inflammatory disease.
I recognized that inflammation was the cause of many diseases several years ago. Now, more than ever, the scientific evidence continues to support the theory that chronic inflammation plays a critical role in causing many dangerous diseases including cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, autoimmune disorders, neurological disease, endocrine dysfunctions, respiratory disease, gastrointestinal ailments and psychiatric diseases.
I take advantage of all fields of medicine including conventional and alternative remedies. For example, there are certain dietary supplements that have safe and very effective anti-inflammatory benefits. A balanced low-carb diet also has many anti-inflammatory benefits. My studies have also found safe and effective pharmaceuticals that are important in dealing with inflammatory disease.
Others are recognizing the importance of inflammation and disease. For example, early in 2004, TIME magazine dedicated a story, "The Secret Killer", to inflammation, and its link to a host of chronic degenerative disorders. The attention that inflammation is now drawing begs the questions, what causes inflammation and what's the best remedy for it?
Few will argue that it is important to control inflammation to reduce disease and enhance health. However, the way in which one controls inflammation is open for debate. The risk of pharmaceutical COX-2 inhibitors has recently been exposed. Vioxx® was recently removed from the market by its maker, Merck, because it caused significant increase in the risk of heart attacks. Soon afterwards, Pfizer announced that Celebrex® raises the risk of adverse cardiovascular events by 250%, and now the safety of Aleve is being questioned. There's no doubt that the long-term use of these drugs for chronic inflammation is very risky.

Thankfully, there are effective ways to control inflammation that are not only safe and effective, but reduce the risk of disease rather than increase it. For example, the dietary supplement, Lyprinol® is a very safe and effective anti-inflammatory therapy. There are 13 scientific papers referenced in the National Library of Medicine supporting the safety and efficacy of Lyprinol® as an effective therapy for inflammatory disorders such as osteoarthritis and asthma. Quercetin is a flavonoid that has a lot of research supporting its ability to sustain a healthy immune system. Scientific evidence suggests that quercetin is able to inhibit inflammation early in the inflammatory cascade by down-regulating the genetic expression of inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF- a), interleukin -1 (IL-1), and interferon-gamma (INF-1 ).
Another impressive dietary supplement that has recently caught my attention is Policosanol. Recent clinical studies suggest that Policosanol has the ability to reduce triglycerides and LDL levels and raise HDL cholesterol levels without the adverse side effects seen with the use of statin drugs. This is a very promising dietary supplement and thankfully very inexpensive.
